In the Fall of 2020, EM Normandie will open a MSc® Financial Data Management Programme, which has been accredited by the French Conférence des Grandes Ecoles. Given on the Caen Campus, this programme will train finance experts who, thanks to their prospective vision, their capability to work on a project, their proficiency in exploiting and interpreting data, will play a key role in helping the Senior Management of business organisations in their decision making.
This new MSc® Financial Data Management programme fully integrates the digitalisation of occupations and the shift of the finance expert’s role towards a firm’s strategy. Students will acquire knowledge of emerging technologies, which will boost their credibility as seasoned finance experts prepared for the challenge of future stakes. They will learn how to take advantage of future functionalities, to master data and to draw useful information from them while communicating with the various services in a firm on the results of their analyses and recommendations.
"MSc Graduates will take an active part in the continuous improvement of firms’ performance by generating and mastering their agility. They will possess a genuine capability to influence the definition of firms’ digital and global strategies. They will play a decisive role in organisations by favouring management modes for multidisciplinary teams involving finance experts and data scientists. Knowing how to anticipate rather than control, to facilitate decision making, to deliver relevant analyses, to be agile and flexible, such are the competencies for which we will prepare our students under the framework of this programme", EM Normandie Dean Elian Pilvin explains.
Data, Automation & Visualisation Technologies and AI at the heart of the decision-making process
By possessing practical and essential data for the various services in a firm, the Financial Service will enhance its pivotal position in the structure. This digital leadership necessarily springs from an excellent knowledge and apt use of the new tools based on automation, visualisation and Artificial Intelligence technologies, which will contribute to putting forward hidden causal links, to uncovering correlation and to adapt business management steering.
Both an expert in digital training programmes and research thanks to its "Digital Transformation Management" Sponsored Chair, EM Normandie offers dedicated pedagogical engineering coupled with a thorough knowledge of the required technology tools and software, tested beforehand in other similar programmes by the actors of this industry in general.
A training programme both academic and professionalising
Led by Dr. Odile Bernard, a PhD in Management Sciences and Associate Professor of Finance, this programme is taught in English by EM Normandie full-time Faculty members, external academic and professional contributors. The structure will be organised as follows:
- Semester 1: 236 class hours, a 5-week in-company Junior Consulting Project, a Finance Bootcamp and Academic Research carried out in partnership with a company,
- Semester 2: 221 class hours, a 5-week in-company Junior Consulting Project, a Finance Bootcamp, a 4-to-6-month final internship, a Thesis and an Oral Defence
During their in-company Junior Consulting Projects, students will be in teams of 3 or 4 to work on a free consultancy and full-time basis on an issue proposed by one of the School’s partner companies. Their outsider standpoint will offer companies recommendations for new methods and solutions (launching of new projects, setting up processes, exploring concepts). During the Finance Bootcamps, students will be put in a professional situation on a specific theme, in groups for a week. The latter is inspired by real cases on a Finance theme in order to apply the techniques acquired. In-company Junior Consulting Projects and Finance Bootcamps, supervised by professional tutors and lecturers contribute to developing students’ Hard and Soft Skills.
Many career opportunities upon graduation
The training programme opens access to all the traditional occupations in Business Finance, but also to all those occupations digitalisation has modified, such as Junior Finance Executive, Liquidity Manager, Performance Manager, Head of Financial Communication, Risk Manager, etc. Graduates will integrate easily any type of company, from start-ups to multinationals, which have already initiated or decided a digital transformation in their Finance Services, whatever the activity sector.
This MSc® Financial Data Management Programme is open to holders of a French 4-year degree at least, or an equivalent international qualification. Proficiency Level in English: TOEIC score of 790 or equivalent.
Tuition fee for the whole programme: €12,500.
