What is management?
Management brings together all the techniques for organising resources that are used to run an organisation efficiently. The role of the manager consists in particular of managing human, financial and material resources.
Team management requires a multitude of "hard skills", such as the ability to organise, to plan actions over time, to manage one's budget, to obtain material resources, to report to one's hierarchy, etc. All of these functions require a solid base of management skills that enable the manager or company director to manage his or her tasks effectively and to ensure that his or her department/company functions properly.
The human factor occupies a central place in the life of a manager. Being able to offer a vision to your teams and to share it, to motivate them on a daily basis, to give them unfailing support and to establish a climate of trust and mutual respect are all skills required in the daily management of a team. Soft skills such as the ability to communicate, to delegate, empathy, agility, creativity, emotional intelligence... are essential to becoming a manager who is as effective on the human level as on the operational level.

Testimonies of students and graduated
Now I support a team of salespeople who represent all the components of the group: from our TV channels (M6, W9, 6ter, Paris Première, Téva and Sérieclub) to our websites (6play, CuisineAZ, Déco.fr…) as well as the three radio stations from the RTL group that we have just acquired. Day to day, it’s an exciting job. Contrary to what you might think, it has a very human focus.
Noémi Carpentier, Director Advertising Division of the M6 groupe
On the one hand, I manage international projects providing information terminals in shopping centres or airports with a team of designers, developers, map-makers and technicians. On the other, I spend time with our sales people, contribute to strategy, recruitment and training and I’m in constant contact with our clients and suppliers.
It’s a job that keeps me really motivated, and our branch is the first to have reached this stage. We also have the opportunity to work very autonomously and can make our own decisions about the projects we manage: it’s always exciting.
Gwendoline Jehannin, Project manager and presales consultant at Viadirect
I’ve been working for Michael Page-Page Personnel for 8 years. A UK-based recruitment company with a presence in 35 countries, it was just what I was looking for in a company when I left business school: a meritocratic organisation with room for promotion, and the opportunity to work internationally.
