Helena Karjalainen, Vice-Dean of Research and Associate Professor of Cross-cultural Management at EM Normandie gains her Accreditation to Supervise Doctoral Research (HDR)
This Higher Education Title was awarded to her on 1st April 2019 at Université Paris-Est Marne La Vallée for her work on ‘Cultures & Identities in Management’.
She prepared her HDR under the supervision of Professor Sylvie Chevrier, a Professor at Université Paris-Est Marne La Vallée and defended orally before an examination board composed of Professor Françoise Chevalier, HEC Paris (Rapporteur), Professor Jean-Pierre Dupuis, HEC Montréal – Canada (Rapporteur), Professor Jean-François Segal, Université Paris-Dauphine (Rapporteur), Professor Christoph Barmeyer, Université de Passau – Germany (Examiner) and Professor Jean-François Chanlat, Université Paris-Dauphine (Examiner).
Dr Helena Karjalainen holds a PhD in Modern Literature from the Université de Grenoble Alpes and a PhD in Management Sciences awarded jointly by Université de Lorraine (Metz, France) and Trier (Germany).
Dr Karjalainen has been a Vice-Dean of Research at EM Normandie since 2011, where she has lectured in Cross-Cultural Management since 2008. Her lecturing and research focus on International Human Resources Management, Organisational Behaviour and Cooperation between Organisations. She is particularly interested in cultural identity issues and the impact of cultures on human behaviour, as well as leadership and management in culturally-diverse work environments.
